[CiAN] Rockshore exclusive apparel development secret story part 2 - CiAN HD BACKPACK -

Continuing from the previous column, this time

CiAN HD BACKPACK -Cyan HD Backpack-

I'm going to talk about this.

The concept of this product is `` a strong and convenient beach backpack that can hold a lot .''

I usually live mainly on the rocks,

We have incorporated the unique features of a local angler into various parts.

First, the main material.

Well known as a waterproof material tarpaulin We adopted the material.

This material does not absorb water, so of course it will not seep into the interior.

Dirt such as mud and fish blood can be quickly washed away.

In addition, the bottom part is reinforced with double layers of fabric.

Not only do I put my backpack on the ground, but I often scrape the bottom of my backpack when I go down to the shore. Wear and tear cannot be prevented, but by layering the fabric with two layers, you can significantly reduce water seepage due to wear and tear.

Next is the shoulder part .

This is the area where the most force is applied and damage is most likely to occur.

In the first place, what you put in your backpack varies depending on your fishing style, including not only fishing gear, but also food, drinks, cooking utensils, sleeping bags, clothing, etc.

Also, if you go fishing on the shore, you may return home with the fish you caught in your backpack.

The things I put in my backpack are

If you are going for a short fishing trip for only morning sparrows, it will weigh about 5 kg.

If you only use lures for a day of fishing until the evening, it will be about 10 kg.

If you throw lures in the morning and fish for bottom fish during the day, it will be about 20 kg.

In addition, if you also do rough fishing at night, it will be 25kg...30kg...

There are many reinforcements and improvements that can be made to withstand such a "dangerous" weight.

First, the sewing part .

At the production factory (a factory that regularly makes waterproof backpacks of this type), we had the sewing method strengthened by about 4 levels, which is normally considered to be strong enough.

Next is the placement and angle of the strap (belt) .

The chest strap prevents the shoulder strap from coming off the shoulder or digging into the shoulder, and reduces fatigue by suppressing luggage movement.

By distributing the load not only on the shoulders but also on the lower back (pelvis), the waist belt greatly reduces the load on the shoulders and the feeling of fatigue.

Chest strap and waist strap

By adjusting the length of the load lifter strap (the strap that connects from the top of the shoulder strap to the main body of the backpack), the center of gravity of the backpack can be shifted to the upper body.

You can carry it on your back by distributing the load in a well-balanced manner.

In addition, the upper and lower ends of the shoulder straps, which are subject to particular stress, are carefully

I adjusted the angle of the belt and how to apply the cloth.

Actually, what took the most time was the strength of the shoulder section .

Of course, it is tested in actual fishing, but also in more difficult situations,

I filled it with 25 kg of water and checked its strength by sprinting and shaking with all my might.

Unlike solid water, the center of gravity of water moves, so the weight is applied to areas that are difficult to reach with regular luggage.

I destroyed it spectacularly two or three times, increasing the strength each time, and finally reached the ideal strength.

The product version has also been tested for strength and durability by an external testing organization.

Next are the four gimmicks on the outside of the backpack.

① Front bungee cord

You can carry items that you don't want to put in your backpack because they get wet or dirty, or items that you don't want to put in a backpack with a fish in it.

In my case, I keep things like my jacket that I had left in the morning before Mazume, a dongorosu to put fish in (because the hemp fibers get messy), and a bucket to draw water after use.

②Waterproof zipper on the side

③Mesh pocket at the bottom of the side

It fits a 500ml plastic bottle, so it can be used as a plastic bottle holder.

Depending on the beach, you may have to walk up a mountain path for several minutes or an hour to enter, so you can take it out quickly if you want to take a break along the way.

I also put it in this pocket when I forget to put it in when I'm packing my bag in the parking lot but I don't want to open the bag again. I often forget my headlight and put it in here.

④Simple rod holder on the opposite side

You can temporarily fix the rod when climbing on a rocky shore or on a cliff where you cannot climb down without opening your hands.

You can keep it attached at all times on mountain trails that are not steep, but the rod may slip if you move vigorously for a long time, so it is recommended that you only use it on dangerous parts of the trail.

And finally, there is a gimmick that can be combined with the cyan vest .

Personally, this is what I like most about this backpack.

I think most rock bottom anglers have experienced this, but when you wear a backpack over your life jacket, you feel a tremendous amount of pressure and it takes away more of your physical strength than necessary.

However, it doesn't fit in a backpack, and trying to attach it to a backpack is difficult and time-consuming...We solved all the problems.

The key points are these three canabila parts .

It's very easy to attach just like a regular carabiner.

<Top carabiner>

<Lower carabiner>

However, there are two small tips when attaching it.

One is to close the crotch strap of your life jacket .

Prevents the crotch strap from getting caught on surrounding branches.

I fasten it with the buckle in the center like this.

The other thing is to attach the lower two canabillas to the D-rings on the front (ventral side) of the vest .

If you attach it to the back, the buoyant body on the ventral side will move around.

Also, this gimmick is not only useful when entering the ocean.

It is also very convenient for road trips by Shinkansen or airplane.

Vests tend to be bulky. If you put it in a carrying case, you'll end up taking half of it with you, and if you try to wrap it around the outside of your backpack, the string will wrap around it...which is a hassle.

With the Cyan Backpack & Cyan Vest, you can store your belongings easily, quickly, and with a smart appearance.

↑When I go on a southern expedition, I attach a gimbal belt to the rod holder.

I also carry it as checked baggage on airplanes in this condition.

I was able to check it in at domestic JAL/Peach/Skymark without any problems.
